Cave Kids 

A perfect day trip for the family during the school holidays

WHAT'S INVOLVED

3 hour dry caving adventure in Ruakuri Cave for the kids, going off the beaten track to find remains of ancient creatures and hidden treasure. They'll be exploring by candle and torch light in small groups.

They'll learn new skills, exploring the cave while learning about the environment around them:

  • All about glowworms
  • Cave formations
  • Fossils and Bones
  • Cave myths, superstitions and ghosts
  • Finding buried treasure
  • Accessing parts of the cave not normally accessible to the public, plus the spectacular Ruakuri Cave at its best!

Kids might get dirty shoes and knees while they get stuck in, so please bring a change of clothes

Parents are welcome but not needed (unless child is younger than 8 years old).

The tour guides Veronica and Bridie were brilliant with the kids they made it so much fun and had obviously put a lot of work into creating a varied interesting session.
