They participate in regular workshops that are designed to maintain a high level of personal skill in line with the standards of the NZOIA, NZQA, Mountain Safety Council, NZ Speleological Society and the Australasian Cave and Karst Management Association.
All guides are trained and practiced in emergency procedures and evacuations and have current advanced Outdoor First Aid Certificates.
The Legendary Black Water Rafting Co. team can create custom-made training programmes to suit the needs of any organisation.
Pure fun, raw adventure or corporate challenges that push the boundaries and boost staff morale can all be designed in consultation with you.
If you wish, your activities can incorporate expeditions such as Black Labyrinth or Black Abyss alongside a range of ingenious team building and problem solving exercises and games.
We also operate fun educational programmes for school pupils and teachers. These are designed to educate young New Zealanders about Waitomo's history and cave formations.
Your safety is our paramount consideration. We fully believe that if you feel safe, you'll enjoy your Black Water Rafting experience so much more.
Before any trip departs, we make a thorough evaluation of the potential weather and water level hazards that could eventuate. We also use the best possible equipment that is routinely logged, tested and upgraded.
The Legendary Black Water Rafting Co. is proud to have attained Occupational Safety and Health Achiever status from the New Zealand Government.
The Legendary Black Water Rafting Co. is a passionate guardian of Waitomo's unique caving environment. That's why, in conjunction with the Australian and New Zealand Cave and Karst Management Association, we are committed to protecting and nurturing this incredible natural wonder.
Caves can be adversely affected when people visit them. Artificial lighting, pathways and changes to air temperature and humidity can alter the delicate eco-balance, eventually drying out and destroying the cave interior.
As a Department of Conservation licenced operator, you can be assured that all our tours are conducted in accordance with nature's best interests in mind.
