THL's portfolio includes iconic New Zealand tourist attractions such as Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World in Auckland and the internationally renowned Waitomo Glowworm Caves. The experiences it offers include travelling by motorhome, campervan and rental car in New Zealand and Australia; tourist cruises in New Zealand's Bay of Islands region and on Milford Sound; luxury coach touring and, in New Zealand and Fiji, alternative coaching for the backpacker market. THL's airport shuttle services operate in Auckland and Fiji and to ski destinations in New Zealand's South Island.
To ensure visitors and the inbound travel industry ease of access to its comprehensive range of vacation experiences, THL also operates a 24/7 Contact Centre providing information and reservations services. Added to this, the company owns a range of high profile packaging operations in each of its key international markets.
THL began in 1986 as The Helicopter Line, primarily specialising in scenic flights in New Zealand's South Island. A decade later, the company had diversified its range of tourist activities to the extent that Tourism Holdings Limited had become a more appropriate name. Same initials, better description.
In 2006, THL turns 20 and has been strategically developed to be a powerful presence in New Zealand tourism. While still a young company, it owns many brand names that effectively give it more than a century's heritage in providing excellent tourism products and services.
Mt Cook Line, Newmans Holidays, Johnstons Coachlines, Maui Motorhomes, Fullers Bay of Islands and Kiwi Experience are just some of the THL-owned brand names that are world-renowned for the quality of the experience they deliver to international tourists. But THL is far more than the best collection of tourism brands in Australasia, (if not the Southern Hemisphere). It is an exceptional team of people committed to giving visitors the journey and experiences of a lifetime. |
